Although Office 365 provides an incredibly adaptable solution for many SME’s, there is still a place in the world for Hosted Exchange.
The difference in a nutshell:
Office 365 is a virtualised version of the Microsoft Office Suite, including email.
Hosted Exchange is a secure, cloud-based email solution, including tasks and calendar functionality. It allows businesses to continue using their locally-hosted office processes such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. but helps to reduce the overhead of running on-site Exchange by eliminating the need for expensive hardware installations and ongoing maintenance.
Hosted Exchange is often the best solution for SME’s with very specific needs – for instance those that, for whatever reason, still need to use personal office servers.
However, there is no getting away from the fact that, as a feature rich integrated solution, Office 365 offers considerably better value than Hosted Exchange.
